New DN&F Hawaii 2007 Double CD 'Aloha Nugs'

We've just released a new double CD called 'Aloha Nugs' from last years Hawaii tour. The recordings on these CDs are live two-track soundboards compiled from shows we performed in Hawaii February 14-18, 2007 - just the second time this band had played together. The performances reflect a new band discovering all the spontaneous, exciting and fun new places it can go. We are working thru some new business arrangements and, unfortunately, are not able to accept checks, money orders or credit cards right now. We will be some time soon. BUT if you just can't wait just send cash. Drop a $20 (it's $15+3) in an envelope and we'll send 2 bucks back with the CD and guarantee it even if it somehow gets lost in the mail. No worries. send $18 ($15 CD+$3 for mail)to:

Aloha! Well, the Hawaii tour has come and gone, but the memories will certainly linger on! What a wonderful time it was.

The two Kona Da Kine shows were a great way to start it off at a nice, funky, grassroots affair with a backdrop of the Pacific behind us, and beautiful tropical sunsets before the second set each day. What a great job everyone did who pitched in to help build and decorate the stage there. The palm fronds and flowers that adorned it were such a nice added touch to the already magical ambience.

The following day was the boat cruise. What an incredible time! Over a hundred fans and band packed onto the Body Glove boat for five hours of cruising, swimming, snorkeling, water sliding, high diving, dancing, sunning, partying and capped off by a sunset acoustic set by the band, most still wet from swimming and snorkeling. Most folks didn.t even realize the boat had gotten back into port and docked while the band was playing until they had to cut the power off to let us know! The band wanted to keep playing and no one wanted to get off the boat. What a memorable day it was.

Then it was on to the wet side of the Big Island for the show at the Akebono Theater in Pahoa, a night memorable for among other things, the prodigious tropical rainstorm that followed the show. The downpour on the way back to the hotel in Hilo was monumental. Then after two days off it was over to Maui for the final two shows where we picked up some more mainlanders that had missed the Big Island shows.

Casanova.s was a fun warm up for the next night at Pauwela Cannery, which seems to be one of the most talked about of the tour. The acoustic set was held in a small, hot room and was a jam to add accompaniment to a glass blowing demonstration that yielded a glass skull with a lightning bolt in the center of it. The energy and intensity in the room was electrifying. It was amazing to watch the team of glass blowers working together while the crowd cheered them on.

After a few hours rest, the main event, the last two sets of the tour began in what turned out to be a wonderfully magical setting. The room, filled with all manner of art and woodwork. beautiful hand carved pieces from very large to small, draped opium beds filling the perimeter of the room.had been transformed into a shangi-la of sorts. Over four hundred fans filled the room for a very high last show of tour.

Many thanks to all of the dedicated maniacs who pitched in to make this trip fly. First to Mark & Shelia (sadly, she couldn.t be there for the shows) for all the time, energy, and finance they put in just to get this birdie off of the ground. Extra special thanks to Bill K for adding his special touch to the music and bringing his Aloha spirit to the party! Big Mahalo to Jon who provided much of the bands stage gear for the tour and the cool tour poster. And many special thank you.s to all of the mainland folks who pitched in to help in many different ways. Too many to mention and we.re afraid we might leave someone out. You know who you are.
And to all the rest of you who came over to Hawaii to spend your vacations with us. MAHALO! For those of you who missed it, we.re so sorry. you missed a high time and we strongly recommend that you make it next year! We.re looking at January 16-23, 2009 as the probable time period for Aloha Week #3. We.ll keep you posted. ALOHA!
